Jerusalem, 28 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — As votes continue to be counted following Israel’s election, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s camp is pursuing two parallel strategies: discrediting cooperation between opposition parties and Arab factions, and persuading an opposition party to join a Netanyahu-led government, Israeli media reported Wednesday.

Likud officials believe the prospect of an opposition minority government is fading, while internal divisions within the anti-Netanyahu bloc could work to the prime minister’s advantage.

They also questioned the opposition’s plan to replace Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana as an initial step, arguing that disagreements over his successor would derail the effort.

“If I’m Bennett, why would I give Liberman the speakership and let him control the agenda? And if I’m Liberman, why would I give Bennett control?” one Likud source asked, describing a political deadlock that could complicate opposition efforts.
