Opposition Bloc Leaders Meet to Coordinate Strategy and Joint Moves
Opposition leaders, including Lapid, Bennett, Eisenkot, Liberman, and Golan, met to coordinate strategy for the upcoming Knesset election.
Jerusalem, 26 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Opposition bloc party leaders met Saturday evening at Yair Lapid’s home for their first such gathering in some time, seeking to coordinate political moves and prepare for the upcoming Knesset election.
The meeting brought together former prime minister Naftali Bennett, Yashar! chairman Gadi Eisenkot, Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Liberman, and Democrats chairman Yair Golan. The meeting followed public disagreements among opposition leaders and efforts to increase cooperation between their parties.
Eisenkot said the group’s shared objective was determining how to win the election, while Golan called for a common vision and coordinated preparations. Eisenkot also said an Arab or Haredi party would not be part of a government he would lead, citing their positions on Hamas.
Meanwhile, Benny Gantz placed a truck outside Lapid’s home carrying the message, “The blocs are holding Israel back.”
