Jerusalem, 15 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor Liberman on Thursday rejected Yashar! party leader Gadi Eisenkot’s proposal to swear in a government with 58 or 59 Knesset members if the opposition bloc fails to secure 60 seats.

“We will not support any minority government, not even a temporary one,” Liberman declared.

Despite the polls that suggest otherwise, he expressed confidence that the opposition would win a solid majority in the upcoming election.

Liberman also outlined his vision for a potential coalition, saying it would include only Zionist parties, without Ra’am, the Joint Arab List, Shas and United Torah Judaism.

Likud could become a significant partner without Benjamin Netanyahu, he said, but ruled out joining any government led by Netanyahu. Liberman added that some Likud lawmakers might join a Zionist coalition, accusing Netanyahu of making them subordinates to United Torah Judaism’s Yitzhak Goldknopf and Shas leader Aryeh Deri.
