Jerusalem, 28 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli security forces arrested a reserve soldier suspected of attempting to smuggle approximately 10 kilograms of Captagon into the Gaza Strip, authorities said Wednesday.

The suspect, a man in his 30s from the Bedouin town of Tel Sheva in southern Israel, was arrested inside Gaza following intelligence indicating his alleged involvement in drug smuggling, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) said.

A bag containing approximately 10 kilograms of a substance suspected to be Captagon was found in his possession inside an IDF patrol vehicle. The drugs were allegedly intended to be smuggled into the Gaza Strip.

The Beer-Sheva Magistrate’s Court approved a police request to extend the soldier’s detention until Thursday.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
