Jerusalem, 15 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — IDF Southern Brigade troops, under the engineering unit of the Gaza Division (143) and Southern Command, sealed and destroyed an approximately 1.5-kilometer-long underground passage that crossed the Yellow Line demarcation.
The operation was conducted in cooperation with Yahalom, the IDF’s elite combat engineering unit specializing in underground warfare.
Inside the tunnel, troops discovered rooms intended for use by Hamas terrorists. The IDF did not specify how many rooms were found or whether weapons were recovered.
Southern Command forces remain deployed in accordance with the terms of the ceasefire agreement and will continue operating to remove any immediate threat, the military said. The operation forms part of ongoing efforts to locate and dismantle Hamas infrastructure in southern Gaza.
