Jerusalem, 28 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A suspected Islamist terrorist attacked a Serbian security officer guarding Israel’s embassy in Belgrade shortly after midnight Wednesday, stabbing him with two knives before being shot dead.
Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said the assailant, a minor whose identity had not been established, shouted “Allahu Akbar” while attacking the officer. The guard sustained minor injuries, including a cut to his face.
Dacic said Serbian security agencies had been monitoring the attacker and identified him as a supporter of the ISIS terrorist organization. The suspect’s Instagram account reportedly displayed the group’s black flag.
Serbian authorities classified the incident as a terrorist attack and raised the country’s terror threat level to its highest setting. Police presence was reinforced at key locations, including sensitive infrastructure and public gathering places.
The attack follows a June 2024 assault on a guard at the Israeli embassy.
