Jerusalem, 25 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli security forces continued counterterrorism operations in Hebron overnight Saturday, sealing the homes of two terrorists involved in a shooting attack that killed two soldiers and wounded three others, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Sunday.

The IDF said special forces arrested approximately 50 terror suspects and confiscated illegal weapons and vehicles.

The soldiers killed in Friday’s attack were Staff Sgt. Ron Yonatan Roytman, 23, from Ashkelon, and Sgt. Yuval Shai Svilem, 20, from Hod Hasharon. The two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces following the attack at a traffic junction in the Mount Hebron region.

Earlier Sunday, Roytman and Svilem were laid to rest in their respective hometowns of Ashkelon and Hod Hasharon.

At Svilem’s funeral in Hod Hasharon, his father, Amnon, called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his son’s death.

“We are eating bitter things. There is a mistake here and we want to know how this situation came about,” he said at the graveside.

“Let’s hope that Yuval will be the last soldier and that we will know no more sorrow. I gave my diamond. I hope the state will hear me,” he added.

Israeli officials said that a large quantity of weapons was found in the terrorists’ car, indicating that a large-scale attack was planned to disrupt the October 27 elections.
