Jerusalem, 4 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A foreign female journalist was detained at President Isaac Herzog’s residence in Jerusalem on Wednesday after a security screening detected suspected explosive residue on her hands, prompting a response.
According to Israeli media, the journalist was stopped at the entrance before the president began consultations with party representatives on forming Israel’s next government.
A test to identify explosives reportedly returned positive, and authorities halted entry to the compound. Journalists inside were instructed to remain in the screening tent and not leave, while security personnel were told to move away from windows.
The President’s Residence said an alert was triggered by its screening equipment and that police bomb-disposal experts were on their way to examine the journalist’s belongings. The circumstances remained under investigation, and officials had not established whether the suspected material posed an actual threat or how it came to be present.
