Jerusalem, 4 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Mossad chief Roman Gofman has removed the head of the agency’s Caesarea Division, its elite operational unit, following sharp disagreements between the two, Israeli media reported Wednesday.
While the Mossad maintained that the senior official had requested to leave his position after several months, sources inside the organization described the move as an effective dismissal, saying he was forced to step down. Some officials reportedly characterized the departure as a major upheaval within the agency.
A Mossad operative with extensive operational experience, considered particularly close to Gofman, is expected to replace him. The two reportedly became acquainted when Gofman served as military secretary to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Since taking over the Mossad in June 2026, Gofman has carried out a series of senior personnel changes, including replacing or removing the deputy chief and other senior division heads.
