Jerusalem, 4 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Czech Republic is preparing to purchase four additional SPYDER air defense systems from Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, with a contract potentially signed by the end of 2026 or early 2027, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.

Czech Defense Minister Jaromír Zůna told parliament’s Defense Committee that preparations could be completed by December 2026. The deal’s value has not been officially disclosed but is expected to generate billions of shekels in revenue for Rafael.

The planned purchase follows a 2021 agreement under which Prague acquired four SPYDER batteries for approximately NIS 2 billion ($620 million at the time), making the Czech Republic the first NATO member to purchase a complete Israeli air defense system.

The new SPYDER All-in-One configuration integrates radar, command and control, launchers, and Rafael’s Python and Derby interceptor missiles on a single vehicle. It is designed to counter aircraft, helicopters, drones, and missiles while protecting strategic sites and mobile forces.
