Airstrike Kills Hamas Commander Involved in Holding Nine Hostages
Israel's IDF and Shin Bet confirm Hamas commander Muhammad Hamad Muhammad Gabain, involved in holding nine hostages, was killed in a Gaza airstrike.
Jerusalem, 27 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel on Sunday confirmed killing Hamas commander Muhammad Hamad Muhammad Gabain in an airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip last Tuesday.
According to the Israel Defense Forces and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), Gabain was involved throughout the war in holding Israeli and foreign hostages captive in Gaza, including Ziv and Gali Berman, Eitan Mor, Liri Albag, Agam Berger, Matan Angrest, Omri Miran, Keith Siegel and Alon Ohel.
The IDF said Gabain had recently advanced attacks against Israel and was working to restore Hamas’ military capabilities, in violation of the ceasefire.
