Israel Police: Fire at a synagogue in the Mea Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem: No casualties in the incident; Torah scrolls were rescued from the scene

The Police officers secured the scene and assisted in removing Torah scrolls from the building. There were no casualties, but the building sustained damage. During the police officers’ activity to maintain public order and prevent risk to human life, several individuals involved shouted calls of incitement and defamation towards the security and emergency forces operating at the scene. The scene is cordoned off until full clearance by professional forces. The public is requested to avoid coming to the area to allow the forces to perform their work. The circumstances of the fire are under investigation.
