Jerusalem, 3 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israeli military’s Technological and Logistics Directorate reported collecting tens of thousands of unauthorized weapons, ammunition, and military items within the first 72 hours of a national equipment return campaign.
Operating across 63 collection points nationwide, the amnesty program set an opening-day record, surpassing six percent of the total volume collected during the military’s previous 2017 drive.
Surrendered items undergoing strict inspection by ordnance technicians include heavy military gear, such as a 120mm mortar and a MAG machine gun, alongside vintage weaponry like the Uzi submachine gun—phased out of primary service over three decades ago. Military officials noted that alongside viable armaments, citizens have surrendered significant quantities of obsolete gear, securing hazardous ordnance while recovering vital military assets.
