Jerusalem, 4 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Wednesday signed an order cutting the excise tax on gasoline by 50 agorot ($0.16) per liter for 26 days, through the end of November.
The temporary tax reduction is intended to cushion a larger fuel price increase that would otherwise have taken effect.
Beginning at midnight Wednesday into Thursday, the maximum price of 95-octane gasoline at self-service stations will stand at NIS 7.85 per liter ($2.15). Without the tax adjustment, the price would have reached NIS 8.35 ($2.29) per liter.
The measure temporarily extends government relief for motorists while reducing the discount previously applied to the fuel tax. The new rate will remain in effect for 26 days, after which the Finance Ministry will determine the applicable fuel tax and prices.
