Jerusalem, 24 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israeli Navy and Greek Navy conducted a joint exercise in the Mediterranean Sea last week, strengthening operational cooperation between the two countries. The drill involved Israeli missile boats and vessels from various Greek naval units.

The exercise was led by Israeli Navy Commander Vice Adm. Eyal Harel, alongside Greek Navy Chief Adm. Dimitrios-Eleftherios Kataras and Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff Gen. Dimitrios Choupis.

Participating forces practiced identifying and neutralizing maritime threats, sailing as a combined force, and sinking an enemy vessel with missile fire. The exercise also emphasized developing a shared maritime picture and improving joint defensive and offensive capabilities.

Harel said the drill represented a significant step in expanding operational cooperation, adding that the strategic partnership with Greece strengthens both navies’ ability to confront emerging threats and safeguard security and freedom of navigation in the Mediterranean.
