Jerusalem, 28 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Office on Monday rejected a Wall Street Journal report claiming that former Egyptian intelligence chief Abbas Kamel spoke with Netanyahu and warned him ahead of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack. The PM’s office called it a “false claim being recycled again to mislead the public.”

The WSJ reported on Sunday: “Egypt’s intelligence chief, Abbas Kamel, was growing anxious. It was early October 2023 and two Egyptian warnings about signs of an impending attack from Gaza had gone unheeded by Israel. Kamel called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to deliver a third alert, said officials in an Arab government.”

Netanyahu’s office stated that the PM neither met nor spoke with Kamel in the months before the war. The office also noted that Egypt had officially denied providing Israel with a specific warning about the October 7 attack.
