Likud: Winter in Lockstep with Liberman
Likud alleges a political agreement between former IDF commander Ofer Winter and Yisrael Beiteinu leader MK Avigdor Liberman.
Jerusalem, 28 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Likud escalated its criticism of Brig. Gen. (res.) Ofer Winter on Monday, claiming that the former IDF commander and chairman of the Amcha Yisrael party has reached a political agreement with Yisrael Beiteinu leader MK Avigdor Liberman.
“Winter is locked in with Liberman,” the Likud said in a brief statement, according to Israeli media.
The statement followed reports that Yisrael Beiteinu had decided to avoid directly attacking Winter and instead focus its campaign messaging on whether he could join a future right-wing coalition. The reported strategy reflects the possibility that Liberman’s party could regard Winter as a potential political partner after the election.
Winter has presented Amcha Yisrael as an independent right-wing party. He recently criticized Liberman, saying voters supporting Liberman and Naftali Bennett were effectively supporting Yair Golan, while previously leaving open the possibility of Liberman joining a right-wing government.
