Starting from Tuesday afternoon, heavy rains are expected in the Eilat region, the southern Negev, and the Arava. Subsequently, the weather system is expected to spread north towards areas in the Negev and the Dead Sea. After a break during the night, rains and floods are expected to resume on Wednesday from the afternoon hours. In light of this, there is concern for road closures and significant traffic disruptions on the main routes in the south, including the roads leading to and from the city of Eilat. Southern District Police, Judea and Samaria District Police, and Traffic Police are preparing for the expected weather system, and due to the concern for floods, all tourist sites from Be’er Sheva to Eilat will be closed. We call on the public to avoid arriving at tourist sites, streams, and hiking trails in the area during the days of the weather system, to avoid non-essential travel in risk areas, and to stay updated on road conditions and expected closures. Instructions and recommendations for the public ▪️ Do not go to stream areas, flow channels, and tourist sites that have been closed due to the danger of flash floods. ▪️ Do not cross flooded roads and flowing water channels, even with off-road vehicles. ▪️ It is recommended to avoid non-essential travel on the roads of the Negev and the Arava during the days of the weather system. ▪️ Obey the instructions of the police officers and emergency and rescue forces in the field. ▪️ It is recommended to plan trips in advance and stay updated on road conditions and changes in traffic arrangements.
