Jerusalem, 26 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Meteorological Service has issued severe weather warnings for southern regions, predicting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, and high winds on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 27–28.
The impending storm presents significant flash flood hazards across the Negev Desert, Arava, Dead Sea, and Eilat areas.
Downpours starting Tuesday afternoon will affect major travel routes, prompting police to prepare for arterial road closures around Eilat.
Authorities have ordered the closure of all nature reserves and hiking trails from Beersheba south to Eilat.
Israel Police urge the public to avoid non-essential travel in affected zones, stay clear of flooded stream beds, and adhere strictly to emergency safety directives.
