Israel Investigating Suspected Ebola Case
A traveler returning from Congo has been hospitalized in isolation in Israel with a suspected Ebola infection, prompting an investigation by the Health.
Jerusalem, 4 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Health Ministry said Sunday that a person who recently returned from the Democratic Republic of Congo has been hospitalized with a fever and is suspected of having Ebola. The ministry stressed that this is only a suspicion and that laboratory tests are being conducted, with results expected today.
The patient is being treated in isolation at Sheba Medical Center in accordance with protocols for high-risk infectious diseases. The Health Ministry will conduct an epidemiological investigation to identify relevant contacts.
The ministry emphasized that no confirmed Ebola Case has been diagnosed in Israel. Ebola is not transmitted through the air but through direct contact with an infected person’s blood, bodily fluids or secretions.
