Dubai Rescue Flights at Risk of Cancellation Over Shin Bet Screening Demand
Israeli rescue flights from Dubai are at risk of cancellation as the Shin Bet demands luggage-screening machines be installed at Dubai Airport.
Jerusalem, 4 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli rescue flights scheduled to bring stranded Israelis home from Dubai on Monday are at risk of cancellation amid a dispute over additional security requirements demanded by the Shin Bet. The security agency is reportedly insisting that luggage-screening machines be installed at Dubai Airport before the flights operate.
The United Arab Emirates has agreed to additional security measures following last week’s attempted attack aboard FlyDubai Flight 1073, but disagreement remains over the specific requirements. UAE officials have criticized Israel’s handling of the crisis, saying the Emirates agreed to revised procedures and that FlyDubai was prepared to resume flights under enhanced security protocols.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Transportation Ministry said FlyDubai had committed to conducting background checks on its crews, but acknowledged that it did not receive the crew list for Flight 1073. The security failure remains under investigation.
