Jerusalem, 4 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — NAHARIYA — Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced that Galilee Medical Center has connected to the national natural gas grid, becoming the third hospital in northern Israel and the sixth government medical center nationwide to transition away from heavy fuel oil.

The project involved constructing a 7.6-kilometer distribution pipeline from Regba, supported by 3.7 million NIS ($1 million) in state funding. Handled by Marimon Natural Gas North Ltd., the upgrade will initially replace polluting fuels before expanding into combined heat and power generation.

According to the Natural Gas Authority, transitioning government medical facilities to natural gas is projected to yield annual systemic savings of approximately 50 million NIS ($13.5 million).
