Bank of Israel Names Tal Harel Matityahu Deputy Supervisor of Banks
Tal Harel Matityahu has been appointed Deputy Supervisor of Banks at the Bank of Israel, leading the Bank-Customer Division.
Jerusalem, 15 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Bank of Israel appointed Tal Harel Matityahu as Deputy Supervisor of Banks and Head of the Bank-Customer Division, following a selection process. She has spent roughly 24 years at the institution in various senior roles within Banking Supervision, including previously serving as Deputy Supervisor overseeing technology, innovation, and cyber issues.
Harel Matityahu has led initiatives including a bank account “mobility” system, a tool for locating dormant accounts, fraud-reduction measures, and financial education programs for seniors. She holds law and MBA degrees and completed leadership programs at Harvard Business School.
In her new role, she will oversee banking supervision policy related to consumer protection, transparency, and fairness in retail banking.
