Jerusalem, 4 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Likud MK Amit Halevi resigned Wednesday from the Central Elections Committee, protesting its decision to approve election results despite allegations of foreign interference and vote-buying.
Halevi said he submitted his resignation after Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg ordered the results brought before the committee and Likud decided to abstain.
“Until the serious suspicions of foreign countries’ interference, which have a security dimension, as Justice Sohlberg defined it, are removed, the committee has no authority to discuss or approve them,” Halevi wrote.
He cited reports of alleged payments and voter manipulation at polling stations in Arab communities, arguing that the results should be rejected outright until the allegations are resolved.
Halevi called for the committee to withhold certification, insisting that it must address allegations of foreign interference before the results receive final approval.
