Jerusalem, 1 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Yisrael Beiteinu chairman Avigdor Liberman is reportedly furious with his opposition-bloc partners over talk of forming a minority government with the support of Arab factions, which he believes handed the Likud a major campaign advantage and drove its voters to the polls.
Liberman was also angered by what he considers a breach of an agreement with Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar!, which ran a campaign promoting itself as the largest party at his party’s expense.
Liberman will meet Beyachad Party co-chairman Yair Lapid on Sunday afternoon. Opposition leaders hope Liberman will agree to recommend Eisenkot to form the next government.
Liberman is keeping his options close to the vest, although he agrees that replacing the Knesset speaker should be an initial step. He is unlikely to accept the position himself.
Joining a Likud-led government is currently off the table.
