Jerusalem, 29 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir launched a sharp attack Thursday evening on Police Commissioner Danny Levy following clashes between police and Jerusalem Faction protesters near Bnei Brak.

“For several days, the police commissioner has been acting as though he wants to please the next government, believing he will win favor with Yair Golan,” Ben-Gvir said.

He also accused Levy of abruptly changing his conduct after the election.

“It is regrettable that Levy, who did everything I asked for a year and a half, is acting illegally against Haredim the day after the election and turning them into his punching bag,” he said.

Clashes erupted during a protest against the arrest of a Jerusalem yeshiva student on draft-evasion charges. Police threw stun grenades, and approximately 10 protesters were evacuated for medical treatment, one in moderate condition.

United Torah Judaism chairman MK Yaakov Asher also condemned police conduct.
