Jerusalem, 29 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Ten people were evacuated to hospitals following clashes at Geha Junction near Bnei Brak, where a demonstration led to the complete closure of Highway 4 and severe traffic disruptions across central Israel.
The highway was blocked in both directions between Aluf Sadeh and Em Hamoshavot interchanges. Traffic police directed motorists to alternative routes and urged the public to avoid the area.
Police declared the demonstration illegal after attempts to negotiate with protesters failed and demonstrators refused to clear the road. An officer issued a final warning before police considered using force.
Videos circulating from the scene showed physical confrontations and injured demonstrators. Protesters also alleged that police used excessive force.
MK Meir Porush (UTJ) accused police of violating the Haredi community’s right to protest and applying what he called “brutal violence.” He contrasted the police response in Bnei Brak with their softer handling of demonstrations on Tel Aviv’s Kaplan Street.
