Jerusalem, 3 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s National Planning and Building Council approved major regulatory reforms to accelerate nationwide electric vehicle charging infrastructure on Tuesday.
The update to National Outline Plan 18 (TAMA 18) grants gas stations upgrading to at least five fast-charging points up to 100 square meters in additional building rights for specialized electrical and transformer rooms.
The policy also permits infrastructure development in unutilized highway interchange spaces and allows operators to build covered waiting lounges for drivers.
To expedite implementation, regulators exempted standalone EV charging projects from environmental-hydrological reporting requirements.
Officials expect the planning incentives to cut red tape significantly, encouraging fueling station operators to rapidly expand rapid-charging networks and upgrade commercial driver amenities across the country.
