Jerusalem, 6 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality issued approximately 2.54 million parking and public-transport-lane tickets, collecting NIS 573 million ($188.1 million) in fines from the beginning of 2024 through mid-2026, according to data reported on Tuesday by Israeli media.
The figures highlight the enormous scale of traffic enforcement in Israel’s largest metropolitan city. The fines cover violations including illegal parking and unauthorized use of lanes designated for public transportation.
The municipality has increasingly relied on enforcement measures to regulate traffic, keep bus lanes clear, and improve mobility across the city. Critics, however, have questioned whether the scale of ticketing has turned traffic enforcement into a major source of municipal revenue.
With millions of tickets issued and hundreds of millions of shekels collected, Tel Aviv’s enforcement system has become a significant financial operation.
The data also underscores the growing cost of driving and parking in the city, where limited parking and heavy congestion increase traffic violations.
