Jerusalem, 28 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — A teacher and vice principal at the Vitkin School in Emek Hefer were assaulted Wednesday by a female student after intervening in a violent confrontation between two students, Israeli media reported. The teacher was hit, scratched, and bitten, and the student also attempted to pull her hair.
The incident occurred as students returned to classes following Tuesday’s election-day holiday. When a teacher attempted to separate the students and stop the fight, one turned on her, threatening and physically attacking her.
The school’s vice principal arrived to assist and was also assaulted. The two staff members attempted to contain the situation and prevent further injuries until the student’s mother arrived.
The Teachers’ Union announced that classes would begin at 10 a.m. Thursday in protest, while communication classes would operate normally. The union said two previous incidents of physical violence involving the same student had preceded Wednesday’s attack.
