Jerusalem, 4 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee will hold a special security hearing Tuesday following the attempted terrorist attack aboard FlyDubai Flight 1073, which made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after the Omani co-pilot attacked the captain.

Committee Chairman Boaz Bismuth (Likud) said the Intelligence Subcommittee will examine security procedures surrounding foreign flights arriving in Israel. Representatives of the Shin Bet, Mossad, National Security Council, Transportation Ministry and other security agencies are expected to attend.

The hearing follows questions over how the Omani co-pilot, whose country has no diplomatic relations with Israel, was cleared to operate a Tel Aviv-bound flight. Reports indicate crew information was transmitted to Israeli authorities, but his nationality did not trigger additional scrutiny. The committee will examine responsibility for screening foreign airline crews and possible gaps in coordination between Israeli security agencies.
