Jerusalem, 4 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday instructed National Security Council head Shmuel Ben Ezra to appoint an examiner to conduct a comprehensive review of security procedures for foreign civilian aviation arriving in Israel.

The review will examine all security aspects surrounding foreign airlines and international civil aviation operations in Israel.

Netanyahu’s announcement came days after an attempted attack Aboard Flydubai Flight FZ1073, in which an Omani co-pilot allegedly attacked the captain, forcing the aircraft to divert to Saudi Arabia. The incident has raised questions about how foreign airline crews are vetted before flights to Israel.

Reports said passenger and crew data, including the co-pilot’s nationality, had been transmitted to Israeli authorities, but concerns have emerged over how the information was examined and which agencies were responsible. Israel has already announced plans to tighten screening of foreign pilots following the incident.
