Jerusalem, 6 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — United Torah Judaism (UTJ) announced it is open to coalition negotiations with any political figure, including Gadi Eisenkot, provided they deliver a legislated solution to the Haredi draft issue, Israeli media reported Friday.
During presidential consultations following the November 2026 elections, UTJ representatives chose not to recommend any candidate for prime minister. By adopting this independent stance, the party has detached itself from traditional political blocs.
UTJ officials emphasized that their allegiance belongs strictly to whoever secures a viable mechanism to safeguard the status of full-time Torah students.
In a notable shift from historical red lines, party officials indicated a potential willingness to accept certain sanctions targeting Haredi individuals who are not genuinely enrolled in yeshivas. This strategic flexibility signals that UTJ is prioritizing immediate legal protections for actual Torah scholars over rigid ideological alignments.
