TPS: Ofer Winter Threatens Yair Golan Over His Former Yeshiva
Brig. Gen. (Res.) Ofer Winter visited the Bnei David pre-military academy, warning against its closure in response to Yair Golan's statements.
Jerusalem, 17 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Brig. Gen. (Res.) Ofer Winter, chairman of the Amcha Israel party, visited the Bnei David pre-military academy in Eli, Samaria, on Thursday, where he warned against any attempt to shut down the institution.
Winter, a graduate of the academy, told its rabbis and hundreds of students that anyone considering closing it would find him “opposing them with all my strength.”
His remarks came in response to past statements by Democrats Party chairman Yair Golan regarding the academy. Winter said the institution had dedicated itself to the Jewish people and stressed the importance of meaningful military service.
He also met with senior rabbis, including Rabbi Eli Sadan and Rabbi Yigal Levinstein. Sadan defended Winter amid criticism from the political right, saying he had known him for many years and believed his intentions were focused on serving the Jewish people and the Land of Israel.
