TPS: Yair Golan Already Preparing Coalition Agreements with Future Partners

Jerusalem, 15 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Weeks before Israel’s October 27 election, Israeli media reported on Tuesday that Yair Golan’s Democrats Party has a team drafting formal demands for coalition negotiations, aiming to enter talks with a structured document rather than negotiate portfolios after the fact.
The effort stems from fears that even if the anti-Netanyahu bloc wins, a government including ideological rivals like Naftali Bennett and Avigdor Liberman could sideline the Democrats, echoing what party insiders call the trauma of the former “government of change,” when the party’s left flank struggled to shape policy despite holding ministries.
The party is preparing binding, operational demands on democracy and rule of law, alongside a wish list of portfolios previously signaled by Golan: defense, justice, education, public security, and communications.
A Democrats Party official told the Walla website: “We won’t be a leftover. We want to lead, not just participate.”
