Jerusalem, 1 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — President Isaac Herzog called on Israel’s political leaders to approach this week’s coalition consultations with open minds and hearts, urging them to abandon unrealistic demands and seek creative solutions to prevent another election.
Speaking at the state memorial ceremony for Israel’s first president, Chaim Weizmann, Herzog said he would receive the official election results on Wednesday from Central Elections Committee Chairman and Supreme Court Deputy President Justice Noam Sohlberg, after which consultations with all parties would begin at the President’s Residence.
“The President’s Residence will be wide open to all factions and parties,” Herzog said.
He noted that candidates naturally “climb high trees” during election campaigns, but stressed that the election was over and its results were an established reality. “Stop climbing the trees and position yourselves in front of this reality,” he urged, saying his office would help leaders find a measured path forward.
