Jerusalem, 4 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The prosecution has appealed to the Supreme Court against the six-year prison sentence imposed on Dr. Arye Levin, a pediatric gastroenterology specialist who headed a unit at Wolfson Medical Center.
Levin was convicted of rape and indecent acts involving four women: three patients and the mother of a patient.
Prosecutors argue that the sentence is too lenient given the severity of the offenses, and does not adequately reflect the abuse of professional authority and trust involved. The appeal emphasizes that Levin exploited the victims’ medical vulnerability and the trust they placed in him as a physician.
The prosecution is asking the Supreme Court to increase the prison term to 13 years, arguing that a substantially harsher punishment is warranted for the offenses and the circumstances under which they were committed.
