Jerusalem, 20 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Twenty-seven Lubavitch Hasidim detained during an operation targeting military draft evaders agreed to enlist in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and will begin the recruitment process, while 13 others who refused were sent to military prison, Israeli media reported on Tuesday.

The arrests are part of the military’s enforcement efforts against individuals who have failed to comply with enlistment orders.

Those who agreed to enlist are expected to proceed through the army’s recruitment procedures, while the 13 who refused face military detention.

In a statement, the IDF Spokesperson said the detainees “are required to enlist and will be tried in accordance with the law. We will continue enforcing the Security Service Law equally and ensuring that the obligation to serve is fulfilled.”
