Jerusalem, 7 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — JERUSALEM — Three years after suffering critical injuries during the battle at Kibbutz Be’eri, IDF (Israel Defense Forces) Paratroopers team commander Matan Gal has rejoined the military to serve as a Mental Health Officer.
Responding to the October 7, 2023, attack, Gal led his squad in defense of Kibbutz Be’eri, where he sustained four gunshot wounds during a firefight with Hamas Terrorists. Following an intensive 18-month physical rehabilitation process during which he relearned how to walk, Gal capped his recovery by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
Determined to assist fellow soldiers processing combat trauma, Gal completed training to return to duty as a mental health officer, bringing first-hand operational perspective to military psychological support services.
