Jerusalem, 26 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Sheffi Paz, the prominent Israeli social activist and leader of the struggle against illegal immigration in South Tel Aviv, passed away on Monday at the age of 74 following her fourth battle with cancer.

Originally a left-wing activist with the Meretz party, Paz moved to South Tel Aviv in 1995. Witnessing the rapid demographic changes in her neighborhood, she shifted her political stance and founded the “South Tel Aviv Liberation Front.” She became a fierce advocate for veteran residents, fighting for their safety and the restoration of the area.

Known for her uncompromising and confrontational style, Paz organized numerous high-profile protests and legal challenges against government policies. Her unwavering dedication to her cause made her a highly influential and controversial figure in Israeli public life. She remains a symbol of grassroots activism.
