Jerusalem, 5 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Jerusalem Municipality and partner foundations have inaugurated the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Community Sports Center in Beit Hanina, featuring first such public swimming pool complex in an Arab neighborhood in Jerusalem.
Spanning 5,000 square meters, the facility includes a covered main pool, instruction pool, fitness suites, and studio spaces designed for all age groups.
Developed via a public-philanthropic partnership involving the Jerusalem Foundation and national ministries, the project forms part of a multi-million-dollar urban investment initiative across East Jerusalem neighborhoods. Local residents and community leaders directly co-designed the facility, which will offer recreational programming, swimming lessons, and local employment opportunities.
The launch follows recent infrastructure expansions in the sector, including the Shuafat educational campus and Sheikh Jarrah’s Kidron Basin Park.
