Jerusalem, 4 November, 2026 (TPS-IL) — MK Ayman Odeh, leader of the Hadash-Ta’al alliance, is the senior politician being investigated over allegations that he received hundreds of thousands of shekels in cash from a foreign source, Israeli media reported Wednesday.

The case is part of a broader investigation into suspected foreign interference in Israel’s 26th Knesset election. Shin Bet chief David Zini has requested interrogations with a warning of four senior Arab politicians, including Odeh, Ta’al chairman Ahmad Tibi, Ra’am chairman Mansour Abbas, and Balad chairman Sami Abu Shehadeh.

Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara demanded supporting evidence before authorizing the interrogations. A written assessment detailing the grounds for questioning Odeh was reportedly submitted, with investigators agreeing there is sufficient justification.

The Shin Bet says suspected foreign funding and influence operations may involve thousands of people. Odeh rejected the allegations as political persecution, claiming they were intended to undermine Arab political participation.
