Jerusalem, 25 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Land Authority has approved new regulations enabling agricultural communities to host standalone electricity storage facilities, advancing national renewable energy and grid reliability goals.
Under the updated policy, operators can secure 49-year plot allocations for small-scale installations below 16 megawatts, with dedicated 24-year storage usage permits.
Expedited building permits will be granted via National Outline Plan amendments across lands zoned for agriculture, industry, and commerce.
Regulatory transition to long-term leases will trigger once developers complete 40 percent of land development, utilize 80 percent of building rights, or secure grid activation approval from Israel Electric Corporation.
Officials expect the framework to accelerate clean-energy integration, mitigate regional power grid congestion, and expand decentralized battery storage nationwide.
