Israels Defense Ministry Workers Get Pay Boost in New Six-Year Agreement
Israel's Defense Ministry workers will see substantial pay increases and new bonuses through 2030 in a historic agreement.
Jerusalem, 7 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s national labor federation, the Histadrut, Finance Ministry, Defense Ministry, and employee representatives have signed a new collective bargaining agreement for Defense Ministry workers, running through August 2030. Described by the government as “historic,” the deal replaces the old incentive-pay system with fixed, pension-eligible salary increases.
Key changes include a 14.3% pay raise for administrative, engineering, and technical staff; increases of 10.73%–15% for social workers; and shekel-based raises for senior officials. The agreement also introduces annual bonuses for top-performing employees, monthly incentives for good attendance, and new performance-based grants for student employees.
Officials say the overhaul modernizes the ministry’s pay structure and expands benefits counted toward pensions and social security, addressing long-standing demands from various employee groups within Israel’s defense establishment.
