Jerusalem, 9 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Jerusalem District Police and Border Police officers discovered 20 Palestinians residing in Israel without permits sleeping inside a construction site on Shimon Mishori Street in Jerusalem. Following the discovery, Jerusalem District Commander Maj. Gen. Avshalom Peled signed an administrative order closing the site for 30 days.
Police said the closure is part of an ongoing effort to combat the illegal employment, housing, and transport of undocumented residents in Israel, citing both legal violations and public safety concerns.
The action reflects broader Israeli enforcement measures targeting Palestinians who enter or remain in Israel without valid permits, an issue authorities have prioritized amid heightened security concerns.
