TPS: Illegal Palestinian Resident Suspected of Stealing Vehicle, Killing Cyclist
Police arrested a 24-year-old illegal resident from Samaria suspected of stealing a vehicle and fatally striking a cyclist near Tzuk Beach.
Jerusalem, 17 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Police this morning arrested a 24-year-old illegal resident from Samaria on suspicion of stealing a vehicle and fatally striking a cyclist near Tzuk Beach in the Tel Aviv area.
The suspect was detained after the stolen car overturned in Herzliya. Traffic investigators found a bag in the vehicle containing tools associated with car theft, including an ignition computer, a hammer, and glass-breaking equipment.
MDA paramedics received the report of an injured cyclist at 8:22 a.m. and found him unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, near the overturned vehicle. A motorcycle-unit medic said the scene was “a shocking accident,” describing efforts to resuscitate the roughly 50-year-old cyclist, who was evacuated in critical condition to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
