Jerusalem, 29 October, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Democrats party chairman Yair Golan met Thursday with Ra’am chairman Mansour Abbas as police investigate suspected election bribery benefiting Abbas’s party.
A statement released after the meeting said the two discussed ways to build a partnership and pursue options for forming a “government of reform and rescue for Israel.”
During the election campaign, Golan expressed support for a government that includes Ra’am and even the more extreme Arab Joint List. He described Abbas as a “good partner” and said Jewish-Arab cooperation in government was a positive development. After the results were announced, Golan urged his bloc’s partners to “recalculate their route” and make use of the political leverage available to them.
The meeting came as police investigate suspected election bribery benefiting Ra’am. Seven suspects have been arrested so far, including three school principals from Tel Sheva and Shaqib al-Salam.
