Israels Ambassador to the US Thanks Security Forces After Son Wounded in Terror Attack
Ambassador Yechiel “Michael” Leiter expressed gratitude to security and medical personnel as his son Neria undergoes life-saving treatment after a terror.
Jerusalem, 23 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — WASHINGTON — Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel “Michael” Leiter, released a statement Wednesday evening thanking security and medical personnel after his son Neria was severely injured in a car-ramming terror attack on Highway 443.
“I am grateful to the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), to the medical team at Shaare Zedek who are now fighting to save the life of Neria… and for the prayers of the people of Israel,” Ambassador Leiter stated, calling for unity as his son undergoes life-saving treatments.
Neria Leiter, a veteran reservist who previously lost his brother Moshe in combat, was targeted near the Maccabim checkpoint. Security forces neutralized the assailant at the scene.
