Shaare Zedek First Outside US to Use New Enlarged-Prostate Treatment

Jerusalem, 22 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem has begun using a new minimally invasive procedure for urinary problems caused by an enlarged prostate, becoming the first medical center in Israel and the first outside the United States to use the UroLift 2 system.
The procedure uses small permanent implants to push back prostate tissue blocking the urethra, rather than cutting or removing it. Patients can generally go home the same day and often do not need a catheter. The procedure is also designed to preserve sexual function and fertility.
