Son of Israels US Ambassador Confirmed Wounded in Highway 443 Car-Ramming Attack
Neria Leiter, son of Israel's US Ambassador, was critically wounded in a West Bank car-ramming attack on Highway 443. His brother was also injured.
Jerusalem, 23 September, 2026 (TPS-IL) — JERUSALEM — The municipal spokeswoman for the town of Eli identified reservist soldier Neria Leiter as the individual severely injured in Wednesday’s vehicular terror attack near the Maccabim checkpoint on Highway 443.
Leiter is the son of Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel “Michael” Leiter. Officials confirmed that Leiter’s brother was also wounded During the assault, which targeted security personnel conducting routine operations along the central thoroughfare near Modi’in.
Both victims were evacuated for emergency medical treatment following the incident. Israel Defense Forces personnel neutralized the assailant at the scene, and police investigators continue to gather evidence as regional security forces maintain heightened operational readiness.
